We intend to award a group of qualified applicants a Fellowship which will cover the registration fee for this year’s Symposium which will be held in Boston, MA from April 10-11, 2019. (Travel and lodging will be the responsibility of the Fellow). The application pool will likely be competitive so please read the application completely to ensure your submission best reflects you and your work.
Purpose of the Fellowship:
The Re:co Symposium Fellowship Program benefits those individuals who may be new to coffee or for a variety of reason, including financial, have not had the opportunity to attend. We welcome all those who may be able to make a substantial contribution to the discourse at Symposium or who are recent members of the coffee community.
The Fellowship covers the registration fee for 2019 Re:co Symposium, a $1,600 value and includes complimentary access to the Specialty Coffee Expo. The Fellowship does NOT cover housing or travel costs.
Please fill out and submit the questionnaire below by Friday, January 11, 2019 at 5pm PST. You will be notified of your Fellowship status the week of February 11, 2019.
The ideal Re:co Fellow is a future or current leader in specialty coffee, driving the future of coffee. They might be a graduate student who is focusing on coffee research, a producer/co-op leader who has organized their community around coffee quality, a young entrepreneur who is building a company around a great idea, or a person working for an NGO who is making a special difference.
The Fellowship is designed for people who lack the financial resources to attend Re:co Symposium on their own, but who belong in the environment of leadership, deeper understanding, and progress that Re:co Symposium provides. Proficiency in English is required.
If this sounds like you – we encourage you to apply!
Fellow applications are evaluated by a committee comprised of a sponsor representative, board member of SCA, specialty coffee community member and past fellows. This committee uses a point-based system to evaluate all applicants. Applicants will be assigned points based on their responses to the questions asked on the application form. The scores are considered confidential and not shared. However, any applicant not selected who wish to have feedback is given the option of contacting firstname.lastname@example.org. As a rule, general info and helpful tips can be shared, but not specifics/details on the individual’s result.
